Born out of a partnership between mobile brand Huawei and luxury lifestyle brand Porsche Design, this edition of the Mate 9 brings back the original's dual-rear-camera setup, consisting of a 20-megapixel monochrome fine-detail camera and a 12-megapixel RGB cam , but this time comes with a colossal 6GB RAM . Additionally, it touts a much-more-advanced screen versus the Mate 9's, in the form of a 5.5-inch Curved AMOLED WQHD-1400p interface that scores a 100% NTSC color saturation .
Its promising primary camera setup is decorated by specs like a UHD-2160p video-recording capability , hybrid autofocus (four autofocus types) , and 2x hybrid zooming , while its mammoth RAM is joined by a split-eight-core (2.4GHz + 1.8GHz) Kirin 960 CPU , an i6 co-processor , and an octa-core Mali-G71 MP8 graphics engine .
As for its cons, this Mate 9 evolution's 8-megapixel autofocus-rigged selfie camera still lacks a frontal LED flash and it loses the plain model's microSD card slot . That being said, it bumps up the formerly 64GB memory to a benevolent 256GB , with a similar 4000mAh battery and fingerprint recognition still on board.
In classic Porsche Design fashion, its fuselage only comes in Graphite Black, losing the original Mate 9's other color options , but one thing's for sure: The Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design calls out to users hunting down a luxury-class Android phone.
