Released as the third installment of Motorola's flagship Moto Z family, the Z Play steps down to a Full-HD-1080p 5.5-inch screen (the first two models boast Quad-HD-1440 displays) and has only 3GB of RAM, instead of its siblings' 4GB , but it nevertheless plays in the high-rollers table with the rest of its pros and cons.
Its biggest selling point is the Moto Mods connector , which is basically a magnetic dock that merges your phone with various modules, such as an external speaker or a projector. This chic pro is powered by the Motorola Mobile Computing System led by a Snapdragon 625 2GHz octa-core processor alongside Natural Language and Contextual Computing Processors .
While it loses versus the Moto Z Force in terms of main camera resolution (The Z Force touts a 21-megapixel shooter), the Moto Z Play's 16-megapixel 4K-video dual-flash camera rigged with both laser and phase-detection autofocus is by no means a pushover. Additionally, it features an up-to-2TB microSD allowance and a three-microphone system . It also delivers a 3510mAh battery scoring up to 50 hours of mixed usage time , fingerprint recognition , and Motorola's signature water-repellent nano-coating .
In the end, it may be a less-ambitious spin-off of the first two Moto Z phones in certain aspects, but the Moto Z Play's specifications still secure it a seat alongside other 2016 flagships in our book.
