Samsung Galaxy Round Pros And Cons Review

Picture of the Samsung Galaxy Round, by Samsung

A number of today's smartphones seem to bend over backwards (just figuratively for now, but perhaps in the near future...) trying to feature innovations that could make techies salivate. Two obvious examples are the Samsung Galaxy Round and the LG G Flex. Both have a curved form factor (though the Round is rigid and the G Flex is a little flexible), both are driven by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor (though the Round's 2.3GHz is slightly faster than the G Flex's 2.26GHz), both have 32GB of storage memory (though the Round supports memory expansion while the G Flex does not), and both sport 13-megapixel cameras. However, the Galaxy Round's flexible Super AMOLED display - while a little smaller at 5.7 inches than the G Flex's 6-inch one - may be clearer and sharper with a 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 380ppi pixel density. The Galaxy Round also runs the more updated Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (the G Flex runs the Android 4.2), it has 1GB more RAM than the G Flex, which only has 2GB, and it comes with the Samsung KNOX security system that keeps work and personal data separate.

On the hand, the G Flex does have two points in its favor: it has a self-healing rear cover and its 3500mAh battery is more powerful than the Round's 2800mAh one (but to be fair, it has a bigger display). But then again, this is only the first round. Let us wait for manufacturers to bend the rules further.
