Huawei Ascend P2 Review & Pros And Cons

Picture of the Huawei Ascend P2, by Huawei

The Ascend P2 boasts the 4G LTE Cat 4 technology with up to 150Mbps downdoad speed, making it the fastest smartphone in terms of Internet connectivity up-to-date (according to Huawei). It carries ample processing power with its quad-core CPU. We also like its 13-megapixel camera and full HD video recorder, but we noted some shortcomings as well. For example, it only has a 16GB user memory and a memory card slot seems to be missing.

On-paper Star rating:

Cons:

Ostensibly no HDMI port:

It's all well and good that the Huawei Ascend P2 can record high-resolution 1920 x 1080 movies, but we were disappointed not to find any evidence of the Ascend P2 featuring an HDMI port (which is convenient to watch HD videos on your shiny HDTV.)

Below-average front cam:

By today's standards, we demand more than just 1.3-megapixel of selfie cam resolution.

Any memory expansion slot?:

Our research didn't show that the Huawei Ascend P2 had a slot for memory expansion.

Unknown weight:

It's frustrating that we could not find its weight information.

And Now, the Pros:

4.7-inch display is above average:

It boasts a larger-than-average, 4.7-inch display, with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

Interesting onboard memory:

The Huawei Ascend P2 features a larger user memory (16000MB), but it may sometimes be better to buy a phone with an included memory card instead, since the memory card can then be reused in a future cell phone.

High-resolution (13-megapixel) camera:

It features an advanced built-in camera (13-megapixel) with the following options: Auto adjustment modes, Geo-tagging, HDR, Face and smile detection.
