Sony Xperia ZR Review & Pros And Cons

Picture of the Sony Xperia ZR, by Sony

There is not much to moan about the Xperia ZR. Who wouldnt want a 13-megapixel camera that can shoot underwaters in 2013? But the 138 grams might feel a bit bulky, even if the 10mm thickness is reasonable for a smartphone that can do so much. Here are the other points that we spotted as pros and cons:

On-paper Star rating:

Pros:

Rugged:

It is described as more resistant to water, dust and shocks.

4.55-inch screen is larger than usual:

It features a rather large, 4.55-inch display, with a 1280 x 720 resolution.

High-megapixel camera:

Superior image resolution - 13-megapixel

Other notable features:

It has the following special features: Media Go, Motions Gaming, NFC, Native USB Tethering, PlayStation Certified, Screen Mirroring, Sony Entertainment Network (selected Markets Only), Xperia Link, USB High speed 2.0

HDMI plug:

The HDMI port will be useful to watch HD (1920 x 1080 resolution) videos recorded with the Sony Xperia ZR on an HDTV (HDMI cable might be sold separately).

Cons:

SAR rating info not found:

It may be because the manufacturer didn't publish it or because we didn't find it, but we don't have the SAR rating (radiation level) for the Xperia ZR, so we cannot say how close it is to the legal limit.

Unknown weight:

It's frustrating that we were not able to find information about its weight.

** This phone is also known as: Xperia C5502 ZR, Xperia C5503
