ZTE Grand S Review & Pros And Cons

Picture of the ZTE Grand S, by ZTE

The main features of the Grand S are impressive-enough to earn a place among the top tier smartphones. It boasts a quad-core CPU, a full HD 5-inch touchscreen, and a 13-megapixel camera, not to mention the ultra-thin design. Still, it seems that not all of its specs are awe-inspiring. Its 1780mAh battery is a bit small for our comfort, especially since this device has a large display and 4G technology.

On-paper Star rating:

First, the Cons:

Ostensibly no HDMI port:

It's all well and good that the ZTE Grand S can record high-resolution 1920 x 1080 movies, but we were disappointed not to find any evidence of the Grand S featuring an HDMI port (which is convenient to watch HD videos on your shiny HDTV.)

Sub-standard front cam:

These days, we would hope for more than only 2-megapixel of selfie camera resolution.

Unknown weight:

It's disappointing that we could not find its weight information.

And Now, the Pros:

Very large display:

We're dealing with a hefty display here, making it a phablet: 5.0 inches and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels means about 10.68 square inches and an image quality of at least 440.37 dots per inch (DPI)!

Large onboard memory:

It includes a hefty user memory (16000MB), but it may sometimes be better to buy a phone with an included memory card instead, since the memory card can then be reused in a future cell phone.

High-definition (13-megapixel) camera:

It sports an advanced built-in camera (13-megapixel) with the following options: Face recognition, Anti-shake, Panorama.

Other notable features:

It has these special features: Accelerometer, Face Recognition, WIFI Direct
