ZTE Z222 Pros And Cons Review

Picture of the ZTE Z222, by ZTE

By naming this phone Z222, did ZTE mean Z as in baZic? The Z222 is an pure example of simplicity and probably targets the emergency phone market. The battery life is bleak (only 4 hours of talk-time) and the internal memory is minimal: 128MB is about one music album with 16 tracks. However, it may fulfill its mission well, as it is lightweight (3.24 ounces) and small, with only 3.76 inches in height. All in all, the ZTE Z222 is a typical backup phone.

Let's Look at the Cons:

Small display, even by flip phone standards:

Sure, flip phones are small (which means small displays), but the Z222 only sports a 2.0-inch screen and we think it's too little. Flip phones generally have up to 2.7-inch displays.

Only basic:

Curb your enthusiasm. This is only a very basic phone.

Dated camera:

A 0.3-megapixels is barely enough to make decent pictures, especially that a lot of free or low-priced camera phones have higher-resolution cameras.

No trace of a memory expansion slot:

Does it have any memory expansion slot? Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to.

Unknown weight:

It's disappointing that we were not able to find information about its weight.

Now, the Pros:

Acceptable SAR (radiation) rating:

There are phones with a lower radiation rating, but 0.622 w/kg is quite acceptable, on a scale of 0 to 1.60...

** This phone is also known as: AT&T Z222 GoPhone
