BlackBerry Curve 9320 Pros & Cons Review

Picture of the BlackBerry Curve 9320, by BlackBerry

Here is a BlackBerry smartphone that includes the classic QWERTY bar phone design and Internet-oriented features, such as 3G technology, Wireless LAN, and preloaded social networking apps. Other specifications, however, are entry-level: An 806MHz CPU, a 3-megapixel camera, and a 2.44-inch touch display.

On-paper Review score:

First, the Cons:

Very high radiation level:

We don't want to scare you but, according to our research, the Curve 9320 has a 1.56 w/Kg radiation level (SAR rating), on a scale of 0 to 1.60! Of course, anything under 1.60 is considered safe by the FCC but, keep in mind that most other phones have a lower SAR.

Smaller touch screen:

We hope you have small fingers, since the Curve 9320's touch screen has a smaller display surface to press on than many other smartphones. According to our calculations, it has a 2.85 square inch-display while

Just a TFT?:

TFT displays are ok (they used to be the best option), but in such a high-performance phone, we expect AMOLED, or even SuperAMOLED displays, renowed for their brightness in sunlight, richer contrast and lower energy consumption.

Unknown weight:

It's frustrating that we could not find its weight information.

Now, the Pros:

It comes with a yes (unspecified size) memory card:

A memory card (yes (unspecified size)) is pre-installed or included in the box.

You get apps, but limited choice:

This handset lets you download Java apps. It's a plus, but the selection won't be as wide as what owners of an an iPhone or an Android smartphone can download. Java (J2ME) apps generally don't offer as many free titles as regular smartphones.
