- Analysis by KJ David

The Huawei Honor 20 is a semi-flagship-caliber smartphone that's all about photography, blustering with a quad-camera setup that lines up with those of some of the best imaging-driven phones featured here on Phonerated. Its ambitious multi-lens setup consists of a high-resolution 48-megapixel primary camera for standard photographs, a 16-megapixel wide-angle cam for landscape photography, a 2-megapixel dedicated macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor for portrait shots.

Taking into account its other pros and cons, however, the Honor 20 is by no means a flawless smartphone. For one, its storage memory peaks at only 128GB , which does not sound that high-end, compared to the 256GB or 512GB on-board memories boasted by some full-blown flagship contenders.

We also cannot help but mark its 3750mAh battery as a con, seeing that a few models with less-auspicious specs lug 4000mAh (or larger) batteries.

As of this review, this Honor model was among Huawei's fastest, being powered by the AI-driven Kirin 980 triple-cluster eight-core chip that's made up of a dual-core 2.6GHz main cluster, a dual-core 1.92GHz cluster, and a quad-core efficiency cluster running at 1.8GHz. By the way, don't forget to check out our list of the fastest phones here. Its engine is accompanied by a hefty 6GB RAM .

Up front, the Honor 20 touts a 6.26-inch 1080p notch-free display with an expansive aspect ratio of 19.5:9 , bringing to mind some of the leading phablets on the market. Since its does not have a display notch, its 32-megapixel f/2.0-aperture selfie camera , which is a surefire pro resolution-wise, is perched on the upper left hand corner of the display.

Also part of its upmarket array of pros and cons are a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, NFC support, and a mirror glass design of either Sapphire Blue or Midnight Black.

All said, Huawei's Honor 20 caters to tech-savvy users, particularly those who are big on mobile photography.

On-paper Review score:

Pros:

Faster microprocessor:

The speed of its HUAWEI Kirin 980 (with Dual NPU and Dual ISP) microprocessor (Dual 2.6GHz (+ Dual 1.92GHz + Quad 1.8GHz)) with 8 cores is among the fastest in the current market.

It supports the wireless NFC protocol:

NFC can be used for electronic payment systems and other uses.

Very large display:

We're dealing with a hefty display here, making it a phablet: 6.3 (actual diagonal size is 6.26 inches) inches and a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels means about 15.1 square inches and an image quality of at least 409.09 dots per inch (DPI)!

Much higher-definition photos:

A 48-megapixel (combined with a 16-megapixel wide-angle cam, a 2-megapixel macro cam, and a 2-megapixel depth cam) camera offers a lot more pixels than most other phones. It also sports these features: Night Mode.

Interesting selfie cam:

The 32-megapixel (4.5mm in-screen cam) selfie camera offers an interesting resolution.

Cons or Not-so-great Features:

Is there a memory expansion slot?:

According to our research, it doesn't feature any memory expansion slot.

Unknown weight:

It's frustrating that we were not able to find information about its weight.
