Huawei Mate 9 Pros & Cons Review

Huawei's very first Nougat-run Android happens to be one of its most-advanced, with a Leica dual-camera setup, composed of a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor for picking out fine details and a 12-megapixel RGB sensor for capturing shots in full color , headlining its pros. Its high-caliber imaging specs include 4K-2160p video-recording , quad hybrid autofocus (PDAF, CAF, laser, and depth) , and 2x hybrid zooming . It also features an 8-megapixel autofocus-equipped selfie camera , although it does not come with a front-facing LED flash .

A couple other rare facets include a 4-microphone system (most of its flagship rivals settle for 2 or 3 mics in comparison) and a 600Mbps peak data rate on LTE-A Cat 12 networks . Sadly, its 5.9-inch Full HD 2.5D-glass display misses out on a premium QHD-1440p resolution , while its internal UFS 2.1 memory caps off at 64GB (we expected a 128GB variant), though the latter is aided by an up-to-256GB microSD allowance .

Giving its pros and cons the much-needed muscle are a Kirin 960 eight-core CPU (with an i6 co-processor) , an eight-core Mali-G71 MP8 graphics engine , and 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM . As for its power supply, its 4000mAh battery promises a blustering 105-minute audio playback time and 20 hours of continuous video playback/4G web browsing , while a 4-level 3D fingerprint sensor and a metal unibody round out its feature set.

With a flagship-caliber profile that puts it near the top of the 2016 Android food chain, the Huawei Mate 9 could wind up as a no-brainer for many high- and premium-end smartphone buyers.
