LG Rebel 4 Review & Pros And Cons

- Analysis by KJ David

A starter-class Android smartphone, just like several other prepaid models carried by Tracfone, the LG Rebel 4's low-end pros and cons include a basic pair of cameras. It offers a run-of-the-mill 8-megapixel primary cam equipped with standard autofocus and an LED flash, while a 5-megapixel fixed-focus selfie camera , which at least comes with a screen flash function (LG calls it Selfie Flash), sits up front.

The Rebel 4 is not without a couple of redeeming qualities, though, one of which is its 5-inch HD (1280 x 720) IPS display , which sounds crisp, at least when compared to the FWVGA (480p) or qHD (540p) screens offered by many of its low-budget rivals. Its 4G LTE connectivity sounds like a pro to us as well, knowing that a lot of other models within this Android class settle for 3G network connectivity only. Under the hood, this Rebel edition runs on a modest 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor coupled with a 2GB RAM. It also offers a mundane 16GB native memory cap that's accompanied by a measly 32GB-only external memory allowance -- some of its closest competitors support up to 128GB's worth of top-up storage.

This entry-level LG model won't likely be rubbing shoulders with the best big-battery smartphones available, packing a middling 2500mAh battery , which we consider a con, especially since it offers some near-average (as of this specs-based review) stress test scores, such as a 15.8-hour talk time and an an 11.5-day standby time.

With familiar LG perks like Capture+ and QuickMemo+ as well as the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system rounding out its assortment of pros and cons, the LG Rebel 4 is somewhat a fitting choice for first-time smartphone users or those eying an unassuming, low-budget Android.
