Nokia 2 Pros & Cons Review

Although mirroring a lot of basic Android phones with most of its pros and cons, the 2017 Nokia 2 swaggers in the budget-class department with a hearty 4100mAh battery capacity leading the way, consequently promising up to 2 days (2880 minutes) of regular usage on a single charge . Barring its hefty battery power, however, the Nokia 2's specs stay within low-end bounds.

For instance, it runs on low-caliber hardware, including a Snapdragon 212 quad-core 1.3GHz processor and no more than 1GB of LPDDR3 RAM . In comparison, a few of its starter-class rivals have at least 2GB of RAM at their disposal. We are also not impressed with its 5-megapixel fixed-focus selfie camera , which is an outright con, in the wake of autofocus-equipped selfie shooters. Its 8-megapixel primary camera sounds just about right, though.

Going back to the positive side of its array of pros and cons, the Nokia 2 features a 5-inch HD-720p In-Cell LTPS display. LTPS, by the way, claims to provide higher visual resolutions than the more-mainstream (as of its release) IPS screen solution, while IPS tends to win the longevity contest. We also caught an up-to-128GB external memory support in the mix, though this is probably to make up for its middle-of-the-road 8GB-only internal storage .

The Nokia 2 also has some pros in terms of physique and design, one of which is the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 panel protecting its display. Moreover, it features IP52-grade protection from drips or splashes , which we do not often get out of mere 1GB-RAM smartphones. Note that this does not make it an entirely waterproof device -- that would be somewhere along the lines of IP67-68 rugged certifications. Rounding out its features are a sculpted polycarbonate back met by an aluminum chassis , a choice between three two-toned colors, and the Android 7.1.1 Nougat ecosystem.
