One of the highest-ranking smartphones to come out of a Chinese brand in 2016, the OnePlus 3T brings back the original OnePlus 3's whopping 6GB LPDDR4 RAM , but this time couples it with a flagship-caliber Snapdragon 821 quad-core 2.35GHz (max clock rate) CPU
. For comparison's sake, the OnePlus 3's Snapdragon 820 chip has a 2.15GHz maximum clock speed only.
Sadly, this tweaked version suffers from the same cons as its base model, including the lack of a memory card slot , though it does boast 128GB/64GB of UFS 2.0 memory
, as well as a 5.5-inch FHD-1080p-only display
-- we expected a QHD-1440p definition, given its premium hardware specs. Additionally, its 3400mAh battery capacity
seems a bit modest for its hardware, but at least OnePlus's proprietary Dash Charge technology
, which claims faster charging times than those of other 2016-released premium models like Samsung's S7 Edge and Google's Pixel XL, is on board.
The rest of its rather choice features consist of a 16-megapixel 4K-video PDAF rear camera decorated with a sapphire crystal lens cover
as well as both optical (OIS) and electronic image stabilization (EIS)
. Additionally, it touts a secondary 16-megapixel camera (with 1-micron pixels)
, which is a huge leap from the original model's 8-megapixel selfie cam. A few more of its perks come in the form of an actively-learning fingerprint reader
, a 4G LTE Cat 6 adapter
, and a space-grade anodized aluminum housing
. It also offers a physical alert slider
and an RGB LED notification light
.
With a mix of pros and cons that scream high-end, the OnePlus 3T serves as a tech-geek's ticket into the premium smartphone club.
