Poptel's 2018 P60 is a rugged smartphone that features a mix of mid-level and high-end pros and cons. Among its drawbacks is its 64GB-ony external memory allowance (It comes with 128GB of on-board storage) that sounds sparse, especially compared to the 256GB external memory ceilings boasted by several competing toughened Androids.

Still on its hardware specs, we were expecting a faster processor (at least on paper) than the P60's eight-core 2GHz Helio P23 (MT6763) chip , if only because some tantamount octa-core-powered smartphones rely on engines that peak at up to 2.6GHz. That being said, its 6GB accompanying RAM is a surefire pro as of this data-drive Phonerated review.

Its cons aside, the Poptel P60's perks include a large 5000mAh battery that promises up to 25 hours of continuous calling time and a maximum of 516 hours of standby time, the latter translating to a little over 21 days. Also, like a good number of other big-battery Android phones, it combines the IP68 and the MIL-SPEC-810G rugged certifications , which essentially means that its exterior is impervious to water and dust as well as resistant to temperature extremes and accidental drops.

Unlike some older Poptel models, such as the P9000 Max, the P60 features an upmarket main camera, in the form of a 16- plus 5-megapixel dual-lens cam with a Full HD (1080p) slow-motion video-recording capability. Up front, it touts a so-so 8-megapixel selfie camera. Also joining the mix are NFC (Near Field Communication) support, for mobile micro-transactions, standard 4G LTE connectivity, and dual nano SIM card slots.

The P60's pros and cons also include a 5.7-inch 18:9 display with a 2160 x 1080 Full HD+ resolution, a pixel density score of 423ppi, and a scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 3 finish. It delivers fingerprint recognition alongside facial user authentication and it runs on the Android 8.1 Oreo platform out of the box.

With all that said, the P60 winds up as a solid choice for outdoor thrill-seekers and field personnel who are looking for a high-stamina rugged Android phone.
