Entering the mass-tier Android market alongside its J4+ little brother, the Samsung Galaxy J6 Plus is a large-screen smartphone (Don't miss out on Phonerated's list of the best phablets here) whose biggest pro is the massive 512GB microSD card support accompanying its 64GB/32GB internal memory.

Despite coming with a colossal top-up storage support, though, this Galaxy J edition opts for an old-fashioned 1.4GHz quad-core-only Snapdragon 425 processor , which is at least coupled with either 4GB or 3GB of RAM -- the J4+ is available in 3GB and 2GB RAM variants only.

Unlike the J4 Plus, which settles for a single-lens rear camera, the J6 Plus lands closer to the best photography-driven phones around, touting a 13- plus 5-megapixel dual-lens setup that offers things like Live Focus and hardware-level background blurring (aka bokeh). Sadly, its selfie cam, which is an 8-megapixel lens that's limited to a fixed focus capacity , does not sound as promising, although Samsung does throw what it calls a variable selfie flash in the mix.

The remainder of its specs consist of a large 6-inch facade whose 18.5:9 aspect ratio was among the widest available in its price group as we were reviewing its pros and cons. Instead of shooting for something like an FHD-1080p definition, which is what a good number of its contemporaries offer, however, it sticks to an HD+ resolution of 1480 x 720 . A couple more of its features include a facial recognition system and a fingerprint reader implanted into its side-mounted function key.

As for power, the Galaxy J6+ may not be a standout versus many other 2018 budget-tier phablets, but its 3300mAh raw battery capacity is by no means a disappointment -- some less-enduring rivals even settle for only roughly 2800mAh of power. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

With its assortment of pros and cons being topped off by a glass finish and a coating of either Red, Blue, Black, or Grey, the 6-inch Galaxy J6+ could fit the bill as a budget-cautious wide-screen shopper's ticket into dual-lens imaging.
