Samsung Galaxy J7 Neo Review of Pros And Cons

When it comes to technical pros and cons, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Neo does not bring anything new to the table. Instead, it hovers between the entry-level and mid-range unlocked Android categories specs-wise (Check out other unlocked Androids here). Leading its drawbacks is its 5.5-inch HD-only (1280 x 720) display , if only because some of our tech-savvy friends here at Phonerated are allergic to 720p definitions on 5.5-inch screens -- Full HD (1080p) is obviously the better way to go.

This offshoot of the Galaxy J7 also sticks to budget-tier standards with its humdrum 2GB RAM count . That aside, its 1.6GHz octa-core processor is an outright pro, since, in comparison, some of its closest rivals stick to basic quad-core engines. By the way, don't forget to check out our list of the best eight-core smartphones here. Joining its mix of hardware components is an unimpressive 16GB internal memory that's accompanied by a 256GB maximum external memory allowance , which sounds rather generous, at least by 2017 low-end standards.

We also find the J7 Neo's 3000mAh battery rather appreciable, knowing that a good number of competing 5.5-inchers do not even reach the 3000mAh sweet spot. Additionally, its self-attributed battery scores, which include an 80-hour maximum audio playback time (4800 minutes) that was more than 30 percent higher than the average value as of this on-paper review and a 21-hour 3G talk time (1260 minutes), sound quite reassuring to us -- discover some of the best high-stamina phones here.

Heading over to its imaging pros and cons, the J7 Neo rocks a rather typical, but still respectable, 13-megapixel f/1.9 primary camera armed with standard autofocus and an FHD-1080p maximum video capture resolution. Up front, it sports a low-resolution 5-megapixel f/2.2 camera for selfies that at least separates itself from most other 5-megapixel-only shooters through its accompanying frontal LED flash .

Offered in Black, Silver, and Gold, the Galaxy J7 Neo sounds like a decent introductory smartphone, especially for users who are most concerned with battery life.
