Touting a phablet-class 6.3-inch FHD+ (2340 x 1080) 19.5:9 display , the Samsung Galaxy M20 is one of Samsung's first mid-range releases of 2019. Just like its M10 little brother, the M20's biggest flaws include the awkward absence of NFC (Near Field Communication) , which was all but a standard smartphone facet as we were reviewing its pros and cons. Furthermore, its aforementioned large display comes with the budget-class TFT technology only , instead of the brand's signature Super AMOLED screen solution.

Those cons aside, the M20 boasts a large 5000mAh battery that scores a 101-hour audio playback time (6060 minutes) that was over 65 percent higher than the average value as we were writing this analysis. Its 29-hour 3G talk time sounds promising as well. Feel free to pit the M20 versus the best big-battery smartphones here.

This Galaxy M model is powered by a respectable octa-core Exynos 7904 chip consisting of a dual-core 1.8GHz main cluster and a hexa-core 1.6GHz deputy cluster for undemanding applications. It's not that big of a pro, though, since the best octa-core phones featured here on Phonerated run on engines that peak at around 2.6GHz. It is offered in two specs configurations, particularly, one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory and one with only 3GB of RAM and 32GB of memory. Both variants support up to 512GB of external storage , which is reassuring, coming from a mid-level contender.

Its imaging pros and cons include a 13- plus 5-megapixel dual camera , the second cam offering a 120-degree angle for scenic shots. Sitting on its tiny screen notch is an 8-megapixel f/2.0 selfie cam that carries the phone's Face Unlock feature. The M20 also sports a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner (Its M10 sibling lacks fingerprint-based authentication) and it is equipped with the Dolby Atmos 360 audio system.

Wrapping up, the Galaxy M20 caters to shoppers eying a middle-class phone with a large display and a fittingly-large battery.

On-paper Review rating:

Pros:

Faster microprocessor:

The speed of its Exynos 7904 microprocessor (Dual 1.8GHz (+ Hexa 1.6GHz)) with 8 cores is among the fastest in the current market.

Huge screen:

We are talking about an above-average screen, making it a phablet: 6.3 inches and a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels means about 15.1 square inches and an image sharpness of at least 409 dots per inch (DPI)!

Memory can be expanded up to 512GB:

The Samsung Galaxy M20 doesn't come with an included memory card but it supports up to 512GB of memory expansion, which will be convenient to save videos and pictures shot with the included 13-megapixel (combined with a 5-megapixel sub-cam) camera.

13-megapixel (combined with a 5-megapixel sub-cam) camera:

Superior photo resolution - 13-megapixel (combined with a 5-megapixel sub-cam)

Incredible battery life:

Average-resolution additional cam:

The selfie camera resolution seems just about average.

Cons or Not-so-great Features:

Where is the HDMI port?:

The Galaxy M20 can record fancy (1920 x 1080 pixels) video clips. Great! But we couldn't confirm whether it had an HDMI port or not. HDMI, which lets you connect to an HDTV, is not essential, but would be great on an HD phone.

Unknown weight:

It's frustrating that we were not able to find information about its weight.
