- Analysis by KJ David
The Sony Xperia 10 Plus, as its name suggests, is an enlarged (or should we say, elongated) version of the Xperia 10 whose biggest con is its middling 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 636 processor , which is an awkward downgrade over its little sibling's 2.2GHz eight-core engine (It has 4GB of accompanying RAM). Additionally, we expected something more than 64GB of native memory
, since some of its octa-core-powered competitors are offered in 128GB variants. This setback is nicely countered by its sizable 512GB external memory support
, though.
As for its pros, the Xperia 10+ features a 6.5-inch 2520 x 1080 FHD+ display sitting on a rarely-seen (as of this specs-based Phonerated analysis) aspect ratio of 21:9 that's much-wider than the 18:9 or 19:9 solutions featured by several higher-tier large-screen models. It also touts an appreciable 12- plus 8-megapixel dual rear camera
enabled for 4K-2160p video-recording, slow-motion video capture at 120fps, and hardware-level bokeh photography.
While its screen and dual-lens main cam serve as highlights to its array of pros and cons, though, the opposite can be said of its relatively humdrum 8-megapixel selfie camera , knowing that 13-megapixel selfie shooters were no longer that uncommon in the mid-range market around the time of this technical review.

This middle-class Xperia model's feature set is powered by a 3000mAh battery that's possibly more efficient versus ordinary 3000mAh cells, seeing that it is decked out with some signature power-management features from Sony, including Xperia Adaptive Charging, which promises to prevent the battery from being overworked when powering up, Battery Care, and Smart Stamina. Also joining in is a fingerprint scanner, NFC support, and a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 panel protecting its display from everyday bumps and scratches.
So, considering those pros and cons, Sony's Xperia 10 Plus sounds like a fitting choice for shoppers in search of a wide-screen, multimedia-driven mid-level Android.
On-paper Review rating:
It is nice that the Sony Xperia 10 Plus can record high-resolution 3840 x 2160 videos, but we were disappointed not to find any evidence of the Xperia 10 Plus featuring an HDMI port (which is convenient to watch HD videos on your shiny HDTV.)

The screen is larger than usual, making it a phablet: 6.5 inches and a resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels means about 15.28 square inches and an image quality of at least 422.11 dots per inch (DPI)!
The Xperia 10 Plus is not sold with a memory card but it supports up to 512GB in memory expansion, which is convenient to store pictures and video clips taken with the built-in 12-megapixel (combined with an 8-megapixel sub-cam) camera.
It includes an advanced built-in camera (12-megapixel (combined with an 8-megapixel sub-cam)) with the following options: 21:9 capturing (movies/images), Bokeh effect, HDR.
The selfie cam resolution seems just about average.
