Ulefone S10 Pro Pros & Cons Review

The Ulefone S10 Pro is an unlocked budget-tier smartphone that does not have that many pros under its belt. In fact, it suffers from some old-fashioned cons, such as a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6739WA processor that obviously flounders in comparison to the eight-core engines powering some of its low-budget rivals as well as a measly 2GB RAM count .

Adding to its setbacks are specs like a mundane 5-megapixel front camera that at least mimics an actual 8-megapixel cam through interpolation -- aka camera enhancements through software. It also does not go beyond 16GB of native memory, although it supports a tolerable 128GB's worth of external memory.

As for the positive side of its mix of pros and cons, the S10 Pro features a robust (at least within its price group) 3350mAh battery promising roughly 12 hours of standby time and a 9-hour continuous talk time. This S-series edition also features a wide 5.7-inch 19:9 screen that mimics those of the leading phablets and large-screen smartphones as of this technical review. That being said, it settles for a 1498 x 720 HD+ definition only , instead of going for something like FHD+ (1080p).

The S10 Pro's offering also includes a double-lens primary camera consisting of a 13-megapixel main lens interpolated to 16 megapixels and a 5-megapixel sub-lens that's largely for depth-of-field analysis. Also joining the mix is the familiar duo of a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and Face ID for phone and data security.

With the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system and dual SIM card slots (micro + nano SIM) topping off its pros and cons, the S10 Pro seems like a viable choice for budget Android shoppers who want a dual-lens-equipped, stamina-focused Android phone.

On-paper Review score:

Let's Look at the Cons:

Unknown weight:

It's disappointing that we could not find its weight information.

Pros:

Quad-core CPU:

Not only does it clock at 1.3GHz, it's also quad-core.

Very large display:

We're dealing with a hefty display here, making it a phablet: 5.7 inches and a resolution of 1498 x 720 pixels means about 12.7 square inches and an image quality of at least 291.44 dots per inch (DPI)!

Interesting camera:

Above-average camera resolution - of 13-megapixel (interpolated to 16-megapixel combined with a 5-megapixel sub-cam)

High talk time:

Ulefone says that the Ulefone S10 Pro provides 540 minutes of talk time. If it lives up to that claim, it may be convenient.

Average-resolution additional cam:

The selfie camera resolution seems just about average.
