Released shorty after its mother model, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro banks on a comparable upmarket mix of pros and cons, although it still has its fair share of drawbacks. For instance, it runs on a 2GHz-only eight-core Snapdragon 675 processor that sounds mediocre compared to the roughly-2.5GHz engines powering some of the best eight-core models found here on Phonerated, not to mention that the original Note 7 Pro runs on a slightly-faster 2.2GHz chip.
Its biggest pro over the original model comes in the form of a 6GB RAM (Its base model comes with only 4GB of RAM), which hits the high-end sweet spot as of this specs-driven evaluation. Storage-wise, this Pro edition does not upgrade the original's storage capacity, sticking to a 128GB maximum native memory expandable by up to 256GB -- a few tantamount models start out with 256GB of native storage.
Its biggest perk, however, is its highly-competitive 48- plus 5-megapixel dual rear camera , which calls up our list of the best photography-first smartphones. As of this review, its 48-megapixel main lens resolution was one of the highest in the Android world. Its key imaging perks include a 4K-2160p video-recording mode , which its base model oddly does not offer, AI studio lighting, and dynamic bokeh photography. Up front, it touts a respectable 13-megapixel selfie camera that's accompanied by things like AI Beautify.
Even though its 1080p-only screen resolution is a slight con, knowing that most of the best phablets bluster with 2K-1440p definitions, its 6.3-inch 19.5:9 facade still sounds worthy of a 2019 high-end contender, especially with a scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 5 panel buffing it up.
Supporting the aforementioned pros and cons is a robust 4000mAh battery imbued with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4.0 technology, with dual VoLTE (voice over LTE networks) support and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner joining the mix as well.
Donning a gradient Aura finish and a splash-resistant nano-coating , the Redmi Note 7 Pro makes for a decent choice for those eying a large-screen, imaging-driven Android.
On-paper Review score:
It's all well and good that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro can record fancy 3840 x 2160 clips, but we're surprised we didn't find any sign of the Redmi Note 7 Pro sporting an HDMI port (which comes in handy to watch HD videos on your shiny HDTV without having to move them first to your computer).

The screen is big, making it a phablet: 6.3 inches and a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels means about 15.1 square inches and an image sharpness of at least 409 dots per inch (DPI)!
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro is not sold with a memory card but it supports up to 256GB of memory expansion, which is convenient to store photos taken with the built-in 48-megapixel (combined with a 5-megapixel sub-cam) camera.
A 48-megapixel (combined with a 5-megapixel sub-cam) camera offers many more pixels than most phones. It also has these features: AI dynamic bokeh, AI studio lighting, Burst Mode, HDR, Panorama Mode, Steady handheld night photography.
The 13-megapixel selfie cam offers an above-average resolution.
