ZTE Blade V8 Pro Review of Pros And Cons

While only offered in black , which is a bit weird for a high-end wannabe, ZTE's 2017 CES entry, the Blade V8 Pro safely cuts through several flagship-class benchmarks.

Its biggest pro resides on its rear facade, in the form of a dual 13-megapixel camera setup bedecked with high-class features like 4K (3840 x 2160) video-recording , a dual-LED flash , and the Bokeh camera mode . Despite its 3140mAh battery capacity sounding rather middle-of-the-road for a high-class smartphone, this Blade edition stays sharp in terms of its battery scores, particularly, a 1440-minute maximum calling time (roughly twice the average as of this review) and a 552-hour peak standby period . Having Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 technology on board does not hurt as well. Note, though, that it weighs in at a rather heavy 185 grams , while the average smartphone weight around its release was only roughly 150 grams.

Joining its battery in the engine room is the V8 Pro's 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor and 3GB RAM , the latter hitting our expectations from a 2017-released eight-core device. It also comes with a fingerprint sensor embedded into its home button , which recognizes multiple user profiles and can be used for various security functions.

Octa-core Smartphones

As for its remaining pros and cons, the Blade V8 Pro is loaded with a tolerable 32GB internal memory that can be expanded by a maximum of 128GB (uses second SIM card slot), a Dolby Audio sound system coupled with a Hi-Fi chipset , and an 8-megapixel selfie camera that honestly could have used a front-facing LED flash . Additionally, despite not shooting for a premium QHD-1440p screen resolution , we are not ready to call its 5.5 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Full HD (1080p) interface a con just yet.

With a familiar (among high-end models) metal frame and the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow holding its pros and cons together, the ZTE Blade V8 Pro aims for high-end shoppers who want a taste of the double-lens imaging technology, which was among the cutting-edge smartphone specs as of CES 2017.
