ZTE's Cymbal-T drops a rare beat in the mobile world, combining an Android-run touchscreen interface with the classic flip form factor
, which could be a big pro, for users who still prefer clamshell phones.
Compared to what most conventional entry-level Androids offer, however, its low-end 3.5-inch 480 x 320 screen
 and 1.1GHz Snapdragon 210 quad-core engine
end up as cons. We also expected at least 2000mAh of power (It has a 1800mAh battery)
, considering that the average floated somewhere around 2300mAh as of its release. As for its agreeable specs, the Cymbal-T offers 4G LTE connectivity
 and a 0.96-inch external display
, with 5- and 2-megapixel cameras
(lots of other flip phones settle for a single camera) joining the mix as well.
Though its pros and cons suggest an old-fashioned smartphone, the ZTE Cymbal-T bangs the right drum for users who want to learn the ropes of Android through a classic clamshell handset.
