ZTE ZFive 2 LTE Pros & Cons Review

Despite being a sequel model to the ZTE ZFive L, the ZFive 2 LTE offers no big difference from its predecessor, that is, in terms of technical pros and cons. First up, it brazenly sports a 2-megapixel-only front-facing camera , despite 5-megapixel cams being somewhat the golden standard among entry-level smartphones as of this specs-driven review. Having said that, a low-caliber selfie camera is a weakness that the ZFive 2 shares with many of its younger cousins under TracFone's prepaid smartphone catalog . While we're talking about imaging, the ZFive 2's 5-megapixel rear camera is rather undistinguished, but it does come bundled with standard autofocus and an LED flash.

Those big cons aside, the ZFive 2 also has a couple of standout features, one of which being its relatively-hearty 2800mAh battery that overtakes the power caps of most of its low-budget competitors (Take a look at some full-fledged big-battery phones here). Additionally, it scores a promising 20-hour (1080 minutes) talk time and a decent 16-day (384 hours) standby time -- both outstripping the corresponding averages as of this write-up.

Since a lot of comparable starter-class prepaid Androids settle for FWVGA (854 x 480) or qHD (960 x 540) screen resolutions only, the ZTE ZFive 2's 5-inch 1280 x 720 HD IPS display winds up as a pro as well. Its screen may be the last of its notable features, though, since we feel like the ZTE ZFive 2 LTE's 4G network connectivity is rather wasted, given its lack of a mobile hotspot function that was considered a staple facet when it came out. It also comes with no more than 8GB of internal storage, which is accompanied by an up-to-32GB-only microSD card slot that shies of the 64GB or 128GB allowances offered by several competitors.

Powering the aforementioned pros and cons is a Qualcomm MSM8917 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz , which gives it a very slim edge over many low-end rivals -- those with engines that clock in at only 1.1GHz-1.3GHz, at least. Its processor is accompanied (unsurprisingly, for a phone of its caliber) by a substandard 1GB-only RAM , with an M4/T3 hearing aid rating joining the mix as well.

In the end, the ZFive 2 LTE caters to shoppers in search of an introductory 4G Android with a notable life span and not-too-shabby screen.
