BlackBerry Motion Review of Pros And Cons

As far as pros and cons go, the 2017 BlackBerry Motion moves towards a spot among high-end business-class smartphones, featuring signature BlackBerry software like DTEK, for phone and data security . This 5.5-incher is also pretty big on privacy, with specs like BlackBerry Privacy Shade , aiming to prevent people around you from seeing private content on your screen, and Locker Mode , which is basically an inbuilt folder for hiding away delicate files or photos, leading its security suite. A programmable Convenience Key is on board as well.

Sadly, as trade-offs for its pros on the software front, the Motion suffers from cons like a so-so (by high-end standards) 5.5-inch FHD-1080p display sitting on a 403ppi pixel density (Some popular flagships score as high as 500ppi). It also comes with only 32GB of native memory , but its support for up to 2TB microSD cards shrugs that setback off easily.

Jumping over to its imaging capabilities, the Motion's 12-megapixel rear camera is far from head-turning resolution-wise, but it is capable of capturing 4K-2160p videos and it comes with a high-class 6-element lens . In a similar manner, its 8-megapixel selfie cam resolution is underwhelming, though it aids selfie-snapping with what BlackBerry calls a Light-up LCD flash -- the brand's own spin on a screen flash function.

Apart from business and security, the Motion also shines on the stamina front, packing a 4000mAh QC3.0 battery that claims to restore up to 50 percent of the total capacity in just over 40 minutes of charging. Also sitting in the engine room is a Snapdragon 625 eight-core processor clocked at 2GHz , 4GB's worth of RAM , and a 650MHz Adreno 506 GPU.

Tying all its pros and cons together is an IP67-rated (for water- and dust-proofing) outer shell composed of an aluminum frame, a soft-grip backing, and a nano-diamond anti-scratch coating over its display.

Compared to many other flagship-caliber 2017 releases with respect to screen and multimedia, the BlackBerry Motion may struggle, but it nonetheless likely appeals to users who place business and security as top priorities.
