BLU G6 Review of Pros And Cons

Picture of the BLU G6, by BLU

- Analysis by KJ David

BLU's 2019 G6 is a mid-level smartphone whose biggest con comes in the form of its 2800mAh-only battery pack , if only because a good number of other 2019-released models with tantamount specs pack at least 3000mAh of raw battery power, not to mention that the best big-battery smartphones in town do not go for anything lower than 4000mAh.

Additionally, it does not quite level with the best eight-core-powered models listed here on Phonerated, settling for a middling 1.6GHz octa-core engine -- most models on the aforementioned list run on at least 2GHz processors -- some even run on engines that peak at 2.6GHz. It comes with a so-so 3GB RAM and an IMGG8322 graphics processor. Also on board is a 64GB native memory, which can only be expanded by up to 64GB . In comparison, a lot of other mid-enders with comparable pros and cons support 256GB and even 512GB microSD cards.

As for its pros, the BLU G6's elongated design concept gives it a wide 5.7-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio , bringing to mind some of the leading large-screen smartphones at the time of this data-driven review. Note, though, that its mere 1140 x 720 HD+ definition and 282ppi pixel density are the opposite of ambitious, at least by 2019 Q3 standards.

As for imaging, it touts a tolerable 13-megapixel LED-flash main camera on its rear, alongside which sits a fingerprint sensor that's tailored to things like user authentication, file or application encryption, and mobile wallet management. Up front, it offers an 8-megapixel camera that comes with its own LED flash , a facet that was not very common among mid-range smartphones around the time of its July 2019 release.

Joining its pros and cons are dual nano SIM card trays as well as standard 4G LTE connectivity. It runs on the Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box, which tops it off as a decent option for those eying a mid-level Android phone with a wider-than-usual display.

On-paper Review rating:

Let's Look at the Cons:

Ostensibly no HDMI port:

It's all well and good that the BLU G6 can record high-resolution 1920 x 1080 movies, but we were disappointed not to find any evidence of the G6 featuring an HDMI port (which is convenient to watch HD videos on your shiny HDTV.)

Unknown weight:

It's disappointing that we could not find its weight information.

Pros:

Very large display:

We're dealing with a hefty display here, making it a phablet: 5.7 inches and a resolution of 1140 x 720 pixels means about 14.65 square inches and an image quality of at least 282 (They also say 293 PPI) dots per inch (DPI)!

The memory can be expanded up to 64GB:

The G6 is not sold with a memory card but it supports up to 64GB in memory expansion, which is convenient to store pictures and video clips taken with the built-in 13-megapixel camera.

High-resolution (13-megapixel) camera:

It includes an advanced built-in camera (13-megapixel)

Average front cam:

The selfie cam resolution seems just about average.

Some accessories are included:

It includes these accessories: Silicone case, Screen protector,. It might be convenient.
