A basic unlocked flip phone specifically designed for seniors, the Easyfone Prime A1 takes an essentials-only approach in terms of technical pros and cons. By the way, don't miss out on Phonerated's list popular senior-friendly phones here.
Some of its mundane specs include an 800mAh-only battery capacity (It has a replaceable Nokia BL-4C lithium-ion cell), which, although is not uncommon among clamshell phones of its caliber, obviously shudders in comparison to the 1000-1200mAh battery packs offered by some tantamount models.

The Prime A1's 2.4-inch main display is nothing to call home about, either, since a few competing flip phones offer roughly 3 inches of screen real estate -- not that screen size is that big of a deal among basic and feature phones. It does, however, come with a 1.44-inch external colored display
, which sounds like its biggest pro over most of its contemporaries. As most outer screens go, its external screen allows users to check the time, the battery level, and call/text notifications without having to flip the phone open.
Joining the A1's list of pros and cons are a dedicated SOS emergency button located right at the back of the device as well as dedicated M1 and M2 direct dialing keys up front
-- its number keys can also be programmed for speed dialing. This senior flip phone also comes with a 2-megapixel camera with its own dedicated shortcut key, which, even though does not sound that promising, is not entirely a con, knowing that some comparable models released around the time of this on-paper review do not even bother offering cameras. By the way, its camera is accompanied by an LED flash that doubles as the phone's torchlight (It has a physical flashlight switch on one of the edges).
Joining this unlocked flip phone's (Discover the world of unlocked phones here) feature set is a charging cradle that holds it upright while powering up. Its keypad, which Easyfone claims to be made of environmental rubber, is also backlit, obviously to make it easier for its aging target audience to use it under poor lighting conditions. It also caters to users with imperfect hearing, passing M4/T4 hearing aid certifications.
So, although it is nothing special, as far as basic flip phones go, the Prime A1 seems to have the makings of a practical clamshell phone for seniors or those with less-than-perfect hearing/eyesight.
