Huawei nova 2s Pros & Cons Review

A quick review of the Huawei nova 2s's pros and cons tells us that it's more aggressively-specked than both the nova 2 and the nova 2 Plus (It's also the largest among the three), but we still caught a couple of setbacks amidst its flagship-tier specs.

Leading the cons is its 3340mAh battery capacity that although outskirts that of its mother model, fails to pass the 4000mAh premium threshold for raw power capacity. It's not that depressing, though, since its 500-hour standby time and 1200-minute talk time were both safely above the corresponding average marks when it came out. The forenamed battery pack powers an expansive 6-inch 18:9 IPS screen with an FHD+ (2160 x 1080) resolution, although, given its processing components and cameras, which we'll get to in a bit, it would have been a great venue for an ultra-high-end QHD+ (2880 x 1440) interface .

The nova 2's imaging department, which houses its biggest pros, is led by a dual-lens rear camera (16-megapixel RGB cam and 20-megapixel monochrome cam) that promises advanced analysis of scenes and objects with its inbuilt AI imaging technologies. Aside from likely finding itself among 2017's best camera phones , the Huawei nova 2s also aims for a spot alongside the most-promising selfie smartphones on the market, rocking a dual camera solution (20-megapixel + 2-megapixel) up front as well. 4K-2160p video-recording joins the mix as well, but Huawei explicitly indicates that its photography pros and cons do not include optical image stabilization , which is a big surprise, coming from a phone with this much inclination towards imaging.

Under the hood, it runs on a high-level Kirin 960 two-cluster eight-core processor clocked at 2.4GHz + 1.8GHz , while a 6GB RAM (A 4GB version is offered as well) is on multitasking duties. For storage, the nova 2s comes with 128GB or 64GB of inbuilt memory accompanied by a 256GB (maximum) microSD card slot. Housing its features is a fashionable (as of 2017) double-sided glass design , with colors like Acacia Red and Sakura Gold (Rose Gold) among its color options.

To rehash, even though the Huawei nova 2s does not sound that competitive when compared to its 4000mAh-powered rivals, its high-end hardware and upscale cameras make it a worthy flagship phablet contender nevertheless.
