The OnePlus 5T follows its OnePlus 5 base model down the high-end road, but it is regrettably marred by some cons that are uncharacteristic of a flagship-caliber smartphone. For instance, its raw power capacity is pegged at only 3300mAh , whereas several other models with equally-competitive hardware setups (We'll get to that in a bit) have at least 4000mAh in the tank. Additionally, its large 6.01-inch display opts for a 2160 x 1080 resolution , instead of shooting for a premium-class QHD (1440p) sharpness, which is what we expected, given its Full Optic AMOLED screen architecture and sRGB as well as DCI-P3 color gamut support . We also found its 401ppi pixel density questionable, knowing that some of the highest-ranking phablets on the market reach the VR-caliber threshold of more than 500ppi.

As for its pros, the OnePlus 5T brings out the big guns on the performance front. It runs on a 2.45GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 eight-core 10nm processor coupled with a monstrous 8GB LPDDR4X RAM (A 6GB-only version, which is by no means disappointing, is also offered), the latter earning it a spot in the coveted 8GB RAM club. Also joining in is an Adreno 540 graphics processor.

The OnePlus 5T also offers some perks for users who place the most value on imaging, seeing that it sports a 16-megapixel rear camera aided by a 20-megapixel IMX376K-sensor sub-cam . This high-resolution dual-camera system puts it among the most-advanced camera phones as of this review. Its rear cameras are decorated with things like 4K (3840 x 2160) video-recording and a dual-LED flash . Also, it boasts a 16-megapixel f/2.0 selfie camera up front, making it a solid contender when it comes to selfies as well.

Joining the aforementioned pros and cons is the OnePlus 5T's up-to-600Mbps maximum data rate on LTE Cat 12 bands (with 3xCA) as well as 3-microphone setup . It also comes with a generous 128GB UFS2.1 memory (A 64GB variant is also offered), which is sadly not accompanied by a microSD card slot for storage expansion . Housing its high-end specs is an anodized aluminum chassis met by a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 panel up front.

To rehash, while its flaws on the battery and display front are hard to ignore, the OnePlus 5T's assortment of pros and cons also include promising hardware and imaging setups, which means that it can still hold its own ground versus other 2017 flagships.
