Released alongside the higher-specked Galaxy A50, Samsung's Galaxy A30 caters to those in search of a wide-screen middle-class smartphone. Among its biggest drawbacks is its rather sober Exynos 7904 dual-cluster eight-core processor, which clocks in at only 1.8GHz + 1.6GHz 
. In comparison, some of the leading octa-core smartphones featured here on Phonerated run on chips that peak at more or less 2.5GHz -- its A50 big brother clocks in at 2.3GHz. Its CPU is accompanied by a 4GB/3GB RAM, which we think is just about right, given the rest of its mid-tier specs.
Speaking of mid-tier features, the Galaxy A30 offers no more than 64GB of native memory , whereas several competing large-screen phones start out with 128GB of storage. Having said that, its accompanying support for up to 512GB's worth of external memory 
sounds like a big pro.
Its external pros and cons are led by a large 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display rocking Samsung's Infinity-U design concept and a Full HD+ (2340 x 1080) resolution, with a tiny notch upon which its appreciable 16-megapixel f/2.0 selfie camera is perched. Its forenamed selfie cam stays within mid-range smartphone territory, however, since it is marred by a fixed focal length , while some of the best selfie phones available as of this technical review tout autofocus-enabled selfie shooters.
Sitting on the A30's rear faceplate is a dual-lens camera made up of a 16-megapixel f/1.7 main lens and a 5-megapixel deputy lens (mainly for depth-of-field analysis) , which sounds like a strong selling point within this Android class.
Supporting the Samsung Galaxy A30's pros and cons is a robust 4000mAh battery , while a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and Face Unlock take charge of the security department. Also on board are Samsung's Bixby mobile companion and the Samsung Pay mobile wallet app. It is encased by a 3D glasstic body that's essentially a polished plastic housing with a glass-like surface.
To rehash, the 2019 Galaxy A30 is a large-screen mid-range phone that leans towards mobile photography.

We're dealing with a hefty display here, making it a phablet: 6.4 inches and a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels means about 15.57 square inches and an image quality of at least 402.75 dots per inch (DPI)!
A 16-megapixel (combined with a 5-megapixel sub-cam) camera offers many more pixels than most phones.
The 16-megapixel (fixed focus) selfie cam offers an above-average resolution.
