Weighing in at 228 grams (The average smartphone weighed only around 155g as of this technical pros-and-cons review), the Ulefone Armor 5 is a heavy-duty rugged smartphone tailored to outdoor lovers and field personnel.
Although it does not offer the military-grade damage resistance (MIL-STD-810G) boasted by some of its siblings under Ulefone's Armor series, it nevertheless caters to outdoorsy users with its IP68 dust- and waterproofing certification -- it can survive submersion under 1.5 meters of water for up to 60 minutes. Its defining specs also include a large 5000mAh battery scoring a 440-hour standby time (about 18 days) and an 18-hour continuous talk time, consequently reminding us of some of the best high-endurance phones listed here on Phonerated. Its rather generous battery is enabled for Qi-standard wireless charging. Also, the Armor 5 can charge up less-enduring devices with its USB-OTG reverse charging function.
As for the negative side of its array of pros and cons, this Armor model touts a rather lackluster 5.85-inch 1512 x 720 display , although its impact-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 4 finish sounds like a nice match for its aforementioned water-tight shell. We also think it could have done slightly better than a 2GHz octa-core processor , knowing that, in comparison, some of the best octa-core smartphones of its time use chips that are clocked at 2.5GHz or higher. It's not a total disappointment, though, seeing that there's 4GB of RAM sitting alongside it in the engine room.
Imaging-wise, the Armor 5 hits the 2018 upscale yardstick by rocking a dual-lens rear-facing camera that's made up of a 13-megapixel primary lens interpolated or software-enhanced to mimic the performance of an actual 16-megapixel lens and a 5-megapixel deputy lens for things like depth-of-field analysis and bokeh effects (background blurring for portrait shots). Its 8-megapixel selfie cam, which is interpolated to 13 megapixels, sounds respectable as well.
Joining its pros and cons is a 64GB internal memory expandable by up to 256GB as well as the familiar (around the time of its market entry) combination of a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and a facial recognition system for security.
So, although this Armor 5 is not the toughest rugged phone around, it is still more outdoor-ready than most conventional 2018 Androids, making it a fitting phone to bring on outdoor adventures or field work.

Its SAR rating (radiation level) is only 0.176 watts per kg (when you think that the maximum allowed is 1.60). Phones with such a low SAR rating are exceptional.

It is described as a rugged phone (more sturdy, better water-resistance, etc).
The speed of its MediaTek MT6763 microprocessor (2GHz) spread across 8 cores is among the fastest among recent phones.
NFC can be used for electronic payment systems and other uses.
We're dealing with a hefty display here, making it a phablet: 5.9 (actual diagonal is 5.85 inches) inches and a resolution of 1512 x 720 pixels means about 13.54 square inches and an image quality of at least 283.68 dots per inch (DPI)!
Above-average camera resolution - of 13-megapixel (main cam interpolated to 16 megapixels combined with a 5-megapixel sub-cam)
Ulefone says that the Ulefone Armor 5 provides a talk time of 1080 minutes. That's clearly above the average.
The selfie camera resolution seems just about average.
