Vodafone's Smart E8 is a smartphone tailored to practical shoppers or those who are shopping for something for their aging relatives (We keep a list of popular senior-friendly phones right here). Leading its low-caliber specs is a deal-breaking 2-megapixel fixed-focus front-facing camera that cannot hold a candle to the ones offered by many of its entry-level competitors. Moreover, it sticks to a 5-megapixel primary camera that likely flounders versus the 8-megapixel cams touted by several tantamount models, although it does come with a standard LED flash and HDR (High Dynamic Range) as slight consolations.

Its elementary pros and cons also include a 5-inch IPS screen that has a shabby 854 x 480 FWVGA resolution -- a few of its low-end contemporaries rock HD (1280 x 720) screens. Additionally, it operates on a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor accompanied by no more than 1GB of RAM , a rather unsurprising hardware setup, considering its aforementioned second-rate cameras and display.

As for the Vodafone Smart E8's selling points, its middle-of-the-road 8GB internal memory can be expanded by up to 128GB , which is quite generous, at least by low-end smartphone measures. In comparison, a lot of similar smartphones only allow up to 32GB or 64GB of memory expansion, so the E8 likely holds its own when it comes to multimedia storage.

The Smart E8 also delivers 4G LTE web access (Be sure to check out the newest 4G phones here), which, despite being all but a standard smartphone spec as we were reviewing its pros and cons, some entry-level models still miss out on. Another appreciable facet is its textured backing , if only because many other models in this Android class settle for cheap glossy polycarbonate finishes.

Rounding out the Smart E8's feature set is a modest 2200mAh non-removable battery that echoes the low-end caliber of most of its other specs. It is coated in a Slate Blue finish and runs on Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box.

To rehash, Vodafone's Smart E8 is a low-class 5-incher bound for the pockets of those looking for a backup phone or pragmatists who want no more than a low-cost 4G-enabled smartphone.
