The BLU G9 Pro is, essentially, a big brother to the plain G9 that packs some higher-specked cameras (Check out the best camera phones here) and a sharper display. Before we dive into its pros though, note that this 2019 high-ender did not get out of this technical Phonerated review unscathed, with its 128GB native memory and 128GB-only top-up storage support headlining its list of cons -- many full-fledged flagship models start out with 256GB's worth of on-board memory and support up to 512GB external space.

Also, while the average smartphone weighed only roughly 160 grams as we were checking out its specs, the G9 Pro weighs in at 183g , which might put off shoppers who prefer lightweight and portable Androids. Its weight, though, is due to its spacious 6.3-inch FHD+ (2340 x 1080) Gorilla-Glass-5-finished display. It boasts a wide 19:9 aspect ratio that mimics those of some premium-class phablets and it scores a favorable 91 percent screen-to-body ratio.

Looking into its imaging pros and cons, the G9 Pro banks on a triple-lens primary camera consisting of a 16-megapixel f/1.8-aperture primary lens, a high-resolution 20-megapixel lens for things like Night Mode as well as wide-angle shooting, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor that's tailored to background blurring for portrait shots. Perched on the opposite end is a 24-megapixel selfie camera whose raw pixel resolution could plug it into our list of the best selfie-focused smartphones.

Hardware-wise, although it's 2GHz dual-cluster eight-core engine shudders in comparison to those of the fastest smartphones around, it sounds just right, taking into account its overall mishmash of pros and cons. We also find its 4GB RAM and 4000mAh battery tolerable, especially since the latter supports both wired (18W) fast-charging and wireless charging. Among its other features are a rear fingerprint scanner and an AI-powered facial recognition system.

With what BLU calls a Nightfall finish rounding things out, the G9 Pro winds up as a feasible choice for large-screen smartphone shoppers who are heavily inclined to photography.
