NUU Mobile A6L Review & Pros And Cons

No more than an introductory-class Android smartphone, the NUU Mobile A6L features a measly 5.5-inch 960 x 480 FWVGA+ display that at least comes with a wide 18:9 aspect ratio , instead of sticking to the conventional (as of this specs-based review) 16:9 screen solution. The 18:9 setup was popularized by some flagship-class large-screen models. Its cons also include a paltry 8GB internal memory that's accompanied by a 32GB-only external memory ceiling -- a lot of other budget-class smartphones found here on Phonerated support up to 128GB memory cards.

Adding to its setbacks is a dated 1GB-only RAM count that works hand-in-hand with a quad-core 1.5GHz MediaTek processor , which we flagged as a slight pro, considering that most other quad-core-powered models rely on roughly-1.3GHz chips only. Its hardware setup is accompanied by the Go Edition of the Android 8.0 Oreo mobile platform, which is essentially a set of stripped-down Google applications designed to take up less phone memory and consume less power.

Also part of the A6L's pros and cons are its VoLTE, ViLTE (video over LTE), and Wi-Fi calling capabilities , all of which promise to deliver enhanced communications over both Wi-Fi and cellular networks.

Imaging-wise, the A6L is by no means a promising smartphone, offering a basic 5-megapixel rear-facing main camera alongside an even more underwhelming 2-megapixel-only selfie cam . In comparison, some of its low-end competitors tout 8-megapixel main cams and 5-megapixel selfie shooters.

This NUU model's pros and cons are powered by a 2400mAh battery that sounds humdrum, at least when pitted against the 3000mAh cells offered by a few comparable budget Androids. It also offers dual SIM card slots and Bluetooth v4.2.

To rehash, given the unambitious feature set that it brings to the table, the NUU A6L sounds like a fitting choice for those who just want a basic Android smartphone.

On-paper Star rating:

Cons (or Not-so-great Features):

Sub-standard selfie cam:

In 2024, we would expect more than only 2-megapixel of selfie camera resolution.

SAR rating info not found:

It may be because the manufacturer didn't publish it or because we didn't find it, but we don't have the SAR rating (radiation level) for the A6L, so we cannot say how close it is to the legal limit.

Slower smartphone:

A year ago, this smartphone's on-paper performance would have been just fine, but by today's standards, this 1.5GHz MediaTek processor with a RAM of only 1GB seems a little pale, knowing how recent smartphones boast multi-core, 2+Ghz processors with more than 1GB of RAM.

Unknown weight:

It's disappointing that we were not able to find information about its weight.

Pros:

Quad-core processor:

Not only does it clock at 1.5GHz, it's also quad-core.
