Blackview BV1000 Review & Pros And Cons

Blackview's BV1000 is a basic bar phone that does not go for anything fancy when it comes to technical pros and cons. It is powered by a measly 0.26GHz MT6261 processor that sits alongside a 32MB-only RAM . Also, like a few models on Phonerated's list of easy phones for seniors, it comes with only 32MB of on-board memory , which we consider just good enough for basic telephony functions, although it does support up to 32GB of external memory through its TF card slot -- many tantamount candybar models stick to 8GB or 16GB top-up memory ceilings only.

The BV1000's cons include a 2G-only network compatibility that obviously puts it on the back foot versus some of its 3G- and 4G-enabled contemporaries (Check out the newest 4G-ready phones here). Furthermore, it touts a miserable 0.3-megapixel fixed-focus camera whose raw pixel resolution is among the lowest in the mobile world.

Heading over to its pros, this Blackview model is fitted with an IP68-rated , rubber-clad exterior, making it waterproof, shock-resistant, and impervious to dust grains or other tiny particles. It also boasts a 3000mAh battery scoring a 30-hour maximum talk time and lasting up to 25 days on standby (according to Blackview's controlled lab tests), whereas a few other rugged candybars with roughly similar specs stick to somewhere around 2500mAh of battery power only. Joining its mix of pros and cons are two standard SIM card slots , a torchlight function, and an FM radio. It features a low-class 2.4-inch TFT display with a 320 x 240 definition and a 262K-only color mode.

Offered in Black, Yellow, and Green, the 160-gram-heavy Blackview BV1000 makes for a decent purchase for basic phone users who are eying a phone that they can take on their outdoor trips or during field work.

On-paper Star rating:

Cons:

Lower memory:

Included memory ( 32MB on-board memory ) is kind of meager by smartphone standards.

"Dinosaur" camera:

When you know that most of today's camera phones offer at least a camera with 5 megapixels, the Blackview BV1000 and its 0.3-megapixel (fixed focus) camera are not blowing us away.

Unknown SAR rating:

We didn't find SAR (radiation level) information for this phone.

Unknown weight:

It's disappointing that we could not find its weight information.

Pros:

Rugged:

It is billed as a rugged phone (more sturdy, better water-resistance, etc).
